Prior to today, Adam Scott‘s most thrilling moment in a PGA Major Championship was blowing a four stroke lead at the 2012 British Open, bogeying the final four holes and losing by a stroke to Ernie Els.  But today he claimed victory at none less than the highly prestigious Masters Tournament, held every year at the Augusta National Golf Club.  He won in dramatic fashion during a sudden death playoff against Ángel Cabrera, and became the first Australian in history to win the tournament.

There are over 50 historical winners of this competition; Jack Nicklaus holds the most victories with six.  The tournament is one of the four Major Championships in the sport of golf: the Masters Tournament, the U.S. Open Championship, The British Open, and the PGA Championship.

Many casual golf followers know the Masters Tournament as the competition where the winner is given a green jacket. In addition to the jacket, winners receive a gold medal and have their names engraved on the actual Masters trophy.
